"Masters of the Mat 2" Update; New Challenger to OPW Title to be Named! OPW Management received a message from former UFC star Matt Riddle. Unfortunately, an unforeseen scheduling conflict that will see Mr. Riddle in China the weekend of "Masters of the Mat 2" has arisen. As a result of this conflict. we are searching for a suitable challenger to face Joey Janela for the OPW Title on December 3rd. We would also like to mention that we are planning to reschedule Riddle's OPW debut for a future date. More on December 3rd's championship match as it develops! "Thank You, Louie" Results
The OPW faithful once again packed the OTW Arena in Williamstown, NJ as they have for every show this year. This time, it was about giving back to a man who has given so much of himself to the professional wrestling industry..."Lowlife" Louie Ramos. If you don't want to wait for the DVD, read on for full results! The Nigerian Nightmares hit the ring to start the event & show their respect for Louie. Their associate didn't take too kindly to it & questioned who Louie was and why he found himself at the show. The blatant disrespect was rewarded with a beating. Conor Claxton defeated Stockade. - In a match with "lenient" rules, "The Wrench" & "The Devil's Outlaw" brought the fight to each other in the opening contest. Despite Stockade having the weight & power advantage, Claxton pulled out the win. Qefka the Quiet defeated Bill Avery w/Colin West. - OPW's resident mime had his work cut out for him facing a man who was seemingly afraid of everything...even a fan in the 3rd row. Even with the assistance of his motivator and even Qefka's help, Avery found himself looking at the lights for the 3 count. "The Greek God" Papadon defeated "Too Hot" Steve Scott. - Scott came into this match looking to have some fun while Papadon wanted to deliver a beating. An evenly paced contest, Papadon found himself becoming frustrated by Scott's repeated use of an iPhone & selfies. When it looked as if "The Selfie Superstar" was going to pick up the win, Papadon reversed the pin & scored the victory with assistance from a rope grab. "Lowlife" Louie Ramos wins the Battle Royal. - The afternoon's battle royal came down to Missy Sampson & "PrymeTyme" Amy Lee as the final 2 participants. Both women called Louie into the ring & paid their respects to him. In that gesture, they eliminated themselves by leaving Louie as the last person in the ring. DJ Hyde, Magic, & Jimmy Lloyd defeated Jimmy Lyon, Kyle the Beast, & Brandon Kirk. - This 6 man tag had some of the hardest hitting action of the afternoon courtesy of "The Lariat God" & the Beast as well as some of the craziest moves thanks to Jimmy Lloyd & Brandon Kirk. Despite numerous attempts to throw Hyde off of his game, Jimmy Lyon ultimately wound up eating a thunderous lariat as Hyde's team picked up the win. "Macho Man" Joe Gacy defeated Monsta Mack. - "The Chainsaw" was in the Halloween spirit at the show with his homage to the late, great Randy Savage. Mack got in on the fun when both men recreated the Mega Powers handshake. After that, it was game on as each attempted to get the advantage over the other. Gacy saw an opportunity by taking Mack's arm out of the equation. The tactic proved to be successful as Gacy defeated the veteran. Post match, Mack called Gacy the future of our business. Gacy told Mack that he wants him again in the future. New Jack defeated Matt Tremont & Jeff Cannonball in an Extreme Weapons Match. - OPW's weapons of mass destruction started off the match with a series of vicious blows & headbutts to each other. Out of nowhere, "Natural Bork Killaz" blared throughout the OTW Arena as "The Original Gangsta" made his way to the ring with a garbage can full of weapons in tow. Fresh out of the hospital, New Jack didn't miss a beat as the match spilled out of the ring all around the OTW Arena...giving the packed crowd in the arena a taste of extreme nostalgia. New Jack proved he's still got it after cracking Cannonball in the skull with a STOP sign from the 2nd rope. Post match saw New Jack address the crowd telling them that despite his hospitalization & lost bookings, the benefit for Louie was one show he wouldn't miss no matter what. B-Boy defeated Tony Deppen. - It was West Coast vs. East Coast as "The New Age Punisher" faced 1 of the hottest unsigned talents & OPW fan favorite in the main event. Both men took their battle to the skies & the canvas in what could have easily been a finals for "Masters of the Mat". B-Boy's experience proved to be too much for Deppen as he picked up the win. After the show ended, the locker room returned to the ringside area in support of Louie. Thanks to YOU, the OPW fans, $1,100 was raised between ticket sales & the raffle for Louie and his family. From the Ramos family & everyone here at OPW, THANK YOU. You are the greatest wrestling fans going! |
